Objectives | 1. Agree the scope of work required with Defra, including the extent of indirect impacts to be considered and the definitions of biodiversity/habitat classification system to be used 2. Identify important drivers and mechanisms for impacts on biodiversity. 3. Identify planning and environmental policy and legislative provisions which aim to remove/modify negative impacts of different energy options 4. Review the evidence for impacts, both positive and negative, plus there likely strengths,s cale, location and timing. 5. Report on the impacts, individually and collectively. 6. Identify gaps in knowledge where impacts on biodiversity could be significant. 7. Make recommendations for further research and policy or practical measures to minimise and manage the projected impacts on UK biodiversity.
Abstract | The purpose of this project is to evaluate the potential impacts of future energy policy on UK biodiversity. There are two stated aims of the work: 1. consider the positive and negative impacts of the current energy policy on UK biodiversity 2. Provide a detailed assessment of the potential impact of future energy policies on biodiversity.
